In the years since, I have braided, pressed and twisted my hair. I never did anything special to it to help it grow. I've maintained the same length, minus some breakage, and never thought anything about it. I would see other women with their hair natural; these women with long healthy tresses. They became my inspiration. I would always say, "I want her 'fro." No jealousy, just inspiration. It inspired me to seek out websites, blogs and vlogs to help me find what the regimen needed to get my hair healthy so it would start to grow.
The picture above was taken in October 2011 after my daughter was born. Gorgeous 'fro, and a twist-out that was amazing. In the following months, my hair began to break off a lot. My 'fro? Not so amazing as before. My hair became dull and was crunchy like straw to the touch. Of course everyone said it was the prenatal vitamins and the extra hormones that was produced while I was pregnant and now it's all out of my system. Um, what? Why? How could I get my 'fro back with out having to be pregnant to get it? A fire was lit under me to figure out what my hair needed to maintain moisture so it would once again be healthy and start to grow.
I am now 31. I still love my natural hair. I am on a mission to find the holy grail of products that will cleanse, condition, and moisturize my hair the way it needs to be.
I decided to start this blog for personal use, but hey. If it helps someone else, whether just starting out or a veteran, then so be it. I know I need all the help I can get.
Thanks for reading.
